Top 10 Ero Anime of 2007

Tagged by rq on 2007-12-24

If there was one unfortunate trend this year (and last year, for that matter), it was that so many promising first episodes led nowhere, either due to rising costs or incompetent production. The demise of Himagin especially is a great loss (to me, at least). Despite the various setbacks, 2007 proved to be a memorable year, even if you weren’t a big trolls-jumping-through-windows fan.

You should find torrents for most of these on Tokyo Toshokan, DeltaAnime, or HongFire.

While Tenkousei started off slow and unremarkable, it soon found its niche in harem orgies. The character designs are nothing to write home to mother about, but the animation was better than average, and the nonstandard camera angles and sexual positions made it fun to watch.

The conceit alone makes this worth watching. Choisuji was also one of the few pure loli offerings this year, and despite the general oddness of it all it was surprisingly good.

Good production quality and fair designs made this a decent show. Tentacles and frequent gangbang scenes were what made it memorable.

Warau Kangofu presents us with a femdom nurse for once (not a huge surprise considering the original manga came from Yonekura Kengo). If you’re looking for feminist eroanime you sadly won’t find it here as she ends up getting raped in the end. You know, now that I think about it, this belongs under Choisuji and Rei & Fuko.

Here’s something for the rape fans. Girls beg and plead for mercy, call out to their mothers, and only in the last few minutes do they admit any trace of pleasure. Of course these are ubiquitous themes, but the nice production values set Gakuen 2 apart from the rest.

Magical Witch Academy is a hodgepodge of fetishes manifested through magic and dreams. Tentacles, demons, lactation, and dickgirls all abound from scene to scene. And somehow, it all works.

This show came out of nowhere for me. The round, vaguely retro designs are immediately likable, and the plot is just lighthearted enough to attract casual fans.

Houkago 2 was a highpoint for cuckoldry fans. You have this teacher who can only fume and watch as his fiancee’s libido is being satisfied by some stranger who had the good sense to break into her home and rape her until the requisite five minutes of resistance had passed.

This is pretty much a continuation of Stringendo--only the uniforms are different. A bunch of sometimes-connected stories about schoolgirls on a sliding scale of sexual liberation.

While I may have enjoyed other shows more, I can’t deny all that Hatsu Inu brings to the table. Detailed animation and superb voice work, an original story, and no offensive fetishes.

Nice list... got 4 out of the 10 (7, 5, 2 and 1), too bad you didn't have time to review Resort Boin. It would've charted, believe me.

And for a moment there I thought you were gonna give "cock-block H-anime" the crown instead of Hatsu Inu.

I absolutely concur in the first two.
But yeah, this wasn't the best year for eroanime...
Can't wait for Soramizu 2. I hope it's released in February, as it is said.
